History History
Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded in 1870 at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois by six pioneering young women who marched into the Monmouth Chapel wearing golden keys in their hair.
The UCF Eta Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was chartered in 2002, and there are now more than 130 chapters and more than 220,000 initiated members of Kappa, making it one of the largest and most prestigious national sororities.
Kappa women summarize their shared ideals through the Kappa mission statement:
Kappa Kappa Gamma is an organization of women which seeks for every member throughout her life bonds of friendship, mutual support, opportunities for self-growth, respect for intellectual development, and an understanding of and allegiance to positive ethical principles. Their national philanthropy is Reading is Fundamental which is a program that encourages and enables literacy throughout the nation.
Sisterhood Sisterhood
Whether it's a weekend at Downtown Disney, going out together, cheering on the Knights in football, or just sharing stories with each other, Kappas are always participating in activities to strengthen our bonds of sisterhood.
We have held an annual overnight sisterhood retreat for the entire chapter at a secluded location. During the retreat, we participate in team-building activities, review our secret rituals, and just hang out together as sisters. We also hold new member retreats exclusively for the new member class.
We recognize the importance of family, and help to make Kappa a home-away-from-home by hosting a variety of family-centered activities, including Family Weekend in Fall, and a Mother Daughter Day or Daddy Daughter Day in the Spring.
Kappa is not only about building friendships and becoming apart of sisterhood at the University of Central Florida, but also about sharing a bond that will last a lifetime with girls who share these most meaningful friendships. Its also about becoming apart of an amazing sisterhood, built on mutual values that bind Kappas farther than this University, but all over the world.
